Water JPI organised international cooperation workshop

In 2017 the Water JPI organised two geographic workshops to develop 'RDI international cooperation for tackling global water challenges'. The first workshop, dedicated to Africa and the Mediterranean area, was held in Tangier, Morocco, on 31 March.

The second workshop, dedicated to America, was held in Montréal, Canada, on 26 and 27 April. The event gathered delegates representing key American research funding agencies in the water sector form Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, and USA, as well as International Institutions such as the Belmont Forum. The aim of the workshop was to:

  1. continue the discussions with the countries already contacted under previous activities of the Water JPI in order to develop long term partnerships
  2. develop cooperation with existing international initiatives
  3. identify possible cooperation models with funding agencies/ programme owners for jointly tackling global challenges through common innovative solutions and developing enabling technologies by accessing new sources of knowledge.
