ForestValue Call 2017 closed

The ForestValue transnational call for proposals for research, development and innovation in the forest-based sector closed on 23 January 2018. In total 114 pre-proposals were submitted and these proposals are now under evaluation.

The primary purpose of the ForestValue joint call is to contribute to transforming the global economy from a dependence on fossil and non-renewable raw materials to a sustainable "bio-based economy". The overarching aim of the call is to support projects that will address the development and/or proof of concepts on novel strategies, methods, processes or products designed to support the forestry and forest-based industries including their respective partners, resellers, consumers and end-users in remaining competitive and efficient providers of sustainable bio-products and services. Currently underutilised potential in the forest-based sector shall be used to develop novel ideas and create new markets.

The indicative total available budget of the ForestValue call amounts to EUR 25 000 000  (national public funding including EU top-up funding of EUR 5 000 000). The total call volume with industrial co-funding is estimated to be over EUR 30 000 000.

In May 2018 all applicants will be informed about the outcome of the first step evaluation. Consortia whose pre-proposals pass the first evaluation stage will be invited to submit a full proposal by 14 August 2018. The Step 2 evaluation process will be finished by the end of October, and the projects selected for funding are expected to start in late 2018 / early 2019. Projects funded through this call are expected to have a duration of 24 to 36 months.
