Food2030 conference held: webstreaming available

The Food2030 conference "Harnessing Research and Innovation for FOOD 2030: A Science Policy Dialogue" took place in Brussels, Belgium on 16 October 2017. It served to disseminate successful European Research and Innovation (R&I) initiatives and contribute to the ongoing science-policy dialogue in the area of Food Nutrition and Security.

The conference provided a stakeholder platform to assess the current state of European research, innovation and investment, and explore future needs relevant to the Food and Nutrition Security priorities of:

  • Sustainable and healthy nutrition
  • Climate-resilience and environmental sustainability
  • Circularity and resource efficiency
  • Food system innovation and empowerment of communities

John Bell, Director for the Bioeconomy in DG Research & Innovation opened the conference. Directly after, Louise O. Fresco, President of Wageningen University & Research, started the Plenary Political Session with a speech on “Science for Food System Transformation”; a Scientific Scene Setter on main research breakthroughs and trends, possibilities and innovation.

*: The event builds on the successful FOOD 2030 High Level Event of October 2016 and acts as an important milestone in the preparation of the second FOOD 2030 High Level event to be held under the Bulgarian Presidency in Plovdiv on 21-22 June 2018.
